My Comfort Shoes

After watching the weather forecast last night, I decided it was time to get out my favorite slippers. Am I a fan of cold weather? No, but I do love my slippers. I can't wait to wear them again. Almost as much as I can't wait to send my first page to Angela Ackerman for her feedback. Yes, you heard me right. I was one of the winners in her contest. It was like getting a brand new pair of Ugg slippers. (Okay, between me and you, I was hoping for the three month mentorship, so it was more like getting an off-brand of slippers, but still.) In the spirit of Friday Fluff, I wanted to give a big shout out to Angela for her generosity in prizes for this contest. I'd also like to congratulate all the other winners. So, whose feathers would you like to fluff today? You owe anyone a thanks? Remember, we're all in this together. That's the beauty of it.

I was excited when I saw you won the first page prize, but I was also hoping you could have won the mentorship. :D

Congrats on winning a first page critique. I think most writers are generous by nature and like to give back! Hopefully, we can be in the position to give back like that.

Yes indeed, congratulations are in order, and I wish you the best of luck with your first page! Remember, the longest journey starts with a single step, but no matter how often it feels like you are retaking that first single step, you are in truth continuing your journey! Just keep taking steps and you'll get there! :)

As for owing thanks, allow me fluff your feathers by thanking you so very much for being my first follower! It is a wonderful encouragement to me to know someone is interested! :) I will be delighted to review your book whenever you are in a position to let me! :)

Whoo hoo! Congratulations on the crit!

It's gotten cooler here—it's only been in the mid-80s this week—so I've been digging through my closet searching for all my long-lost cold-weather socks and robes. It's a nice change from the 105 heat index we've had for the past three months.

Does that shoe come in full-body size? I'm getting over a stomach bug and just want to cuddle up in a BIG UGG (preferably one that hasn't been worn!).

Congrats on the contest!

I just want to fluff the feathers of all the wonderful writers I know who are making their way through this writing game. It's really easy to get discouraged (especially when people like SNOOKI are getting book deals just for being ridiculous and orange), but we are all in this together, and we all make each other better just by being honest with our triumphs and struggles.

So hooray for your triumph! I'm going back to bed now ;)

Congrats Susan!! As for thanking writers, three come to mind. Natalie Bahm, Terry Lynn Johnson, and Robert Gurthrie. They've given me some good critique on one of my manuscripts. And, everyone who takes the time to write thoughtful blogposts. It's amazing all the great info we have access to.

Ooh, congrats on the critique! That's super exciting! I just got through the first round of judging for this quarter's WOW-Women on Writing flash contest, so I'm pretty excited too.

Whose feathers should I fluff? I think I really need to thank my husband, especially this week... I've had so much to do and have been retreating into my own little worlds a lot lately, but he's patient enough to put with it. In fact, I should go tell him that right now! :)

Angela Ackerman is one of the most brilliant bloggers I know. She's up there with Elana Johnson in my book! Congrats on your prize - you'll love her feedback. :-)

I say a big fluffy congrats to Jody Hedlund and Christine Fonseca whose debut books came out today!! :-)
