I Love Hanging Up My Shoes!
If you've been around here long enough, you know that from time to time I take breaks from blogging. I refer to these breaks as "Hanging Up My Shoes" time. Over the past few months, I've noticed an increase in people taking breaks from blogging. At first, I thought it was because of summer, but now that summer has come and gone, I realize that there is more to it than that. I think that the majority of the people I follow have been blogging for a while and they're burned out on the whole thing.
I totally understand this feeling. I've been there more times than I count. That's why I take frequent breaks. There's nothing wrong with stepping back from the social networking chaos and focusing on other areas of importance. I plan on taking another break soon.
So, my Tuesday Tip this week is to take a break from blogging (or any other social networking) when you need it. Otherwise, you might end up letting it go completely. What about you? Do you ever take breaks?

Those breaks are so good for the sole. Erm, soul. Love hanging up my shoes once in a while!
I've not done it as often as I should. I just feel guilty when I neglect the blog. But you're right that when burn-out hits, it's good to take a break. Enjoy yours!
I take breaks when needed. Good advice to prevent burnout or boredom. :O)
Janna's pun made me laugh. :] I've moved into what I call sporadic blogging. No more set schedule. Sometimes there are longer breaks between posts. I would like to post at least once a week, but sometimes that doesn't happen. For now, it's keeping the burn-out away.
The longest break I've taken was a week. I enjoy blogging, but I limit my time with it so that I don't get overwhelmed.
Yes, I had a lovely break recently and it's good to be back.
:) Blogging is a break for me, since I write most of my reviews during my normal work day! Don't tell anyone though. :)
I am considering starting a second blog to just ramble on instead of just reviewing books. I don't think I would even try to be on a schedule for that!
Anyway, I agree, breaks are almost never a bad thing!! Especially lunch break! :)
I've noticed the blogging break trend too. I think it's good for us to get a break sometimes. :) Usually when I'm not blogging, I'm writing more,
I just post at such a slow and irregular pace that it only looks as if I'm taking breaks!
I think a break is what you need to feel rejuvenated and appreciate the benefits of blogging more. Just like when your teenage son leaves for a week. It's quiet and you get a lot done, but you really do miss him in the end.
I used to get stressed about it sometimes. Once I took myself off of a set-in-stone daily blogging regimen, I was good. Now, if I skip a day, no one cares and I feel better.
I must admit, when I take blogging breaks, they're often unplanned and unscheduled. Often, they're related to the fact that something(s) has/have been getting away from me. Oops.
Yes, my breaks generally link to my travels and family commitments, but sometimes it's just a breather to catch up on real life...
Enjoy your break-- we'll be here when you get back.

Great advice! And, yes ... I do! :-)
How timely :) It's not exactly a break, but I'm getting ready to cut back. I'm actually struggling to find time for my fiction...but there are 3-4 posts on my blog each week. Huh?
I'm so there...and I think this is going to be a good thing :)
I totally do. I love the breaks. I'm thinking of taking one next week. Have a great break!
I've been on break for much too long. Wheedling my way back in, slowly. I find after being away, my mind does not proffer up all the ideas that I usually have. Better to wait for something good worthwhile, I think.
That makes sense. Otherwise: burnout. :(
Oh yeah. "Taking-a-break" in my middle name! Ha, ha! Although I've been trying to be better since the September adjustment month has past. I do agree though, taking breaks to avoid burnout are better than just stopping completely.
i am planning to do so, it's more comfortable for me after reading this post, thanks.
I am going to have to take a break. DH has probably got to have spinal surgery. I do not want to give up writing, so blogging time will be reduced. I will hang up my shoes for a short time. :)
