It's A Love Affair
When we first arrived at the lake last week, it was raining. Bummer, right? Not for me because it gave us the perfect excuse to visit the Titanic exhibit. I am infatuated with the Titanic and always have been, even before James Cameron's movie came out. But the movie really sent me over the edge. I love the romance between Jack and Rose.
Anyway, they gave you a boarding pass with a person's name on it as you entered the exhibit. At the end, you found out if you survived or not. I did. Yay! Now, most of the exhibit had nothing to do with the movie, but there was an entire section dedicated to it, which made me really happy! My husband, however, was bored to tears and, eager to get to the more exciting artifacts, raced ahead of the rest of us.
My favorite part of the exhibit was when I rounded a corner to find my husband standing at the top of The Grand Staircase. Yes, THE Grand Staircase. Okay, it was only a replica, but still! There he was--my own personal Jack Dawson, waiting for me, his Rose! How romantic! Well, it was, until instead of turning around and smiling at me, he turned with a sigh and said, "Will you hurry it up already." Hmm...it kind of ruined the moment!
Today is our anniversary. My years with him have been great but not without their trials and tribulations. I still love him, though, and I always will. Writing is a lot like marriage in that way. There are good times (which I will share with you tomorrow), but there are also bad times, like writer's block, waiting for weeks for responses on query letters, receiving two rejections before noon on the same day, making countless mistakes, etc. But in the end, we still love writing, and we always will.
That's why we keep doing it!

Happy anniversary, and great post! I'm a Titanic fan too. I visited the exhibit in Pigeon Forge, TN, but they didn't have the Grand Staircase...how cool! I have both soundtracks from the movie. I love listening to them when I'm enjoying a hot bubble bath.
Men do have a way of...
Yes, we love writing anyway!
Congratulations and Happy Anniversary! I wish you two the best. :)
Happy Anniversary!
Did you see the DiCaprio look-a-like that works at the museum? Apparently when Regis and Kelly did their celebrity look-a-like competition they had one who was a dead ringer for Leonardo DiCaprio and he works at the Titanic museum. Thought that was funny.
Glad you enjoyed your time there.

Happy Anniversary!!
I share your fascination with the Titanic. I love studying history and the individuals involved in important events like that.
I really want to see the Titanic Exhibit. I'm going to check the schedule and see when it's coming this way.
Happy anniversary!!
This is the second wedding anniversary I've encountered in my corner of blogland today. Happy Day!
We saw the Titanic exhibit when it was at Union Station. Chilling. I can't remember for sure, but I think I perished.
I was able to see the Titanic exhibit about six months before the movie came out. I'd never really known much about it before that but it set off a frenzy of reading every book I could get my hands on up until the day the movie was released. I don't think I've ever been as excited about a movie as I was about that one.
Happy Anniversary. Great post. My husband would have probably said the same thing to me at the top of the staircase. Oh well, despite the lack of romance, I still love the guy.
Happy Anniversary! And here's to a stellar year ahead with both of your loves.
Awww. What adorable pictures. Happy anniversary to you both!
Is someone going to flog me if I admit that I have never seen Titanic?
Amy,
A bubble bath adn Titanic music sounds like heaven!
MzzLily,
Yes, men do have a way of...
Weronika,
Thanks! You're so sweet!
Novice,
I didn't see that guy. That really would have made my day. I love Leo!
Megan,
I love the history of it, too. I could watch the History Channel for hours.
Karen,
I think there's more than one of them out there. I hope you get to visit one sometime.
Quixotic,
Thanks so much!
Janna,
I heard the one at Union Station was much better than the one we went to.
Stephanie,
I couldn't wait for the movie to come out either. I went and saw it three times and then bought it when it came out on video. I've probably seen it at least a dozen time.
Amy De Trempe,
I knew mine wasn't a romantic when I married him. I guess I really can't complain. :)
Strange,
Thanks for the well wishes for the year to come. Let's hope things pan out on both fronts! :)
Carrie,
Thanks! The pictures are a little blurry. I had to scan them. They were taken back in the day, before everything was digital. Ha! I'm getting old! And, yes, I just might flog you. Go rent the movie! Go! Go now! Run!
Happy Anniversary! I think we should just start calling July the love month. My anniversary was a couple of weeks ago and it brought to mind my love affair with writing too!
Happy anniversary! Beautiful pictures. :D
Happy Anniversary!
Congratulations and Happy Anniversary!
Happy Anniversary! I visited the Titanic exhibit when it came to Denver last year with my husband and thought it was great. He enjoyed it, too, but all that romance stuff is usually lost on him :D
Happy Anniversary!!
We saw the exhibit when it was in Orlando a few years ago. I loved it!
Jody,
I saw that post. I just didn't comment because I was supposed to be unplugging. Ha! Seriously, though, I hope I didn't copy it. That wasn't my intent. :)
Danyelle, Fiction Groupie, and Rae,
Thank you!
Cindy,
It's kind of hard to force the romance stuff on those guys, isn't it?
Terri,
I want to visit it again, when I'm not being rushed out the door by my impatient husband! :)
Happy Anniversary!!!
Sometimes men just don't get it, do they? I had one of those moments tonight...but, yes, we really do love them, we just can't help ourselves. Just like writing, I totally agree.
Happy Anniversary. Our was just on the 25th for 6 years. I didn't get to post because we had guest and it was crazy that weekend. I want to hear about the good times tomorrow.
Eileen,
They really don't get it, do they?
Amber Lynae,
Happy Anniversary to you, too (a few days late)! There won't be much to hear about tomorrow. We'll be celebrating this weekend. :)
Happy anniversary. Your blog is very nice. The images are very beautiful. God is Great. Best wishes.

Titanic--yes! Congrats on your anniversary, AND being a survivor of the Titanic. I'd want to be one of the rich passengers too. Is that wrong? Ha!
