An Empty Shoe Box...
Imagine the possibilities! You can envision whatever shoe you want. It's kind of like a blank piece of paper, or in these times, a blank word document on the computer screen. Either way, it's like a fresh new start... a fresh new story... a fresh new cast of characters.
Yes, today is supposed to be Thursday's Thoughts, but because I'm participating in the whole Great Blogging Experiment about Writing Compelling Characters tomorrow, I thought I'd flip flop the days. So, pretend it's Friday today and Thursday tomorrow. (Did that even make any sense?) I warned you this could happen from time to time.
So, today, instead of offering my thoughts on a topic, I'm fluffing feathers by encouraging you to take a moment to appreciate all the possibilities that your writing has to offer. Your shoe box may seem empty, but just think of what you can fill it with?
What are you filling your shoe box with?

Can we just pretend that both today and tomorrow are Friday???
I love starting a new book for that very reason...the possibilities are endless. That's why I have to force myself to stick with a book once I've started it because the temptation to start something new starts to pull me away...
Same as Stephanie I love starting new projects, it's the funniest part of writing.
I love this analogy! I have a new idea and have a few boxes with old shoes that need to shined up. They all look captivating to me right now! But glad I have choices.
I love the flop:)
I'm so excited to be adding another POV to my manuscript. There is a secondary character that I believe now needs to hold some of my MC's spotlight. There stories together weave so beautifully!
But these are great thoughts, too. You always come up with such good metaphors! Thanks-- see you tomorrow!
At the moment, I'm filling it with sand, swords, and things that don't quite make sense. Sort of pantstering (I don't think that's a word) my first draft of a WIP, so it's been interesting.
I like the idea of the empty shoebox by the by. After all, the most important part of a box is its capacity to be filled, and the best part of an idea is its potential to grow and become more awesome than it is.
What an awesome analogy! I think an empty box/screen is full of so many possibilities, it's magic!
I hope to fill my box up with entertainment and...well, hope! =) Thanks Susan!
Hope, wonder, awe.... :O)
Oooh, I love the idea of an old shoe box and filling it with stuff. I'm doing a lot of reading and resting and TV-watching right now. I'm hoping this will rejuvenate me so I can then start a new project in October. So my writing shoe box is collecting well, nothing right now. And I think that's okay.
Hmmm...lately I've been collecting new ideas and words and phrases. I hope to start a new project sometime soon. Maybe.
An empty shoe box...space for depositing stuff...from papers to ideas to dust...:)
I haven't really truly thought about the characters in my "new idea book" -- I've got the overall plot figured out, but all I know about the two MC's...the guy is 17 and the girl is 17.
Guess I better fill their boxes up, eh?
I am filling my shoe box with hope. I want so much of it I never run out. :)
Hope and patience although the patience is starting to wear a little thin.
These are the shoes I'm dreaming about! They are so fun...

I like this thought. I'm filling it with the words God has given me to share-- I hope!
