Party Time!

As I mentioned Monday, today should mark my 100th post, but I deleted some older posts, so now it's only my 88th one. But, we are going to celebrate anyway. First, though, I wanted to take a moment to clarify something. My posts this week are based on things I've read in agent interviews. If I was super organized, I might have saved the links to those interviews, but I was far from organized, so I didn't. I do know of one location where several pieces of my information came from. Shelli at Market My Words interviews agents regularly. If you haven't visited her blog, you should. It's full of useful information. And one more thing, what you choose to post or not to post on your blog is entirely up to you and should also be based on where you are in your writing journey. My advice may or may not pertain to you. Okay, that being said, let's get on with the celebrating! What better way to celebrate than with music? My friend, Karen Amanda Hooper, tagged me on her blog last week. I'm supposed to list seven songs that have been influential in my life. I could not possibly narrow it down to just seven, so I decided to list ones that were influential to me when writing my first book. Keep in mind that it is a contemporary YA and the music I listened to at the time was consistent with that genre and not a reflection of my favorite songs. Although, I do like these songs. 1. I Don't Care by Fall Out Boy 2. I'm Yours by Jason Mraz 3. Let it Rock by Kevin Rudolf 4. Disturbia by Rihanna 5. Try to Leave a Light on when I'm Gone by David Cook 6. Angels on the Moon by Thriving Ivy 7. I Gotta Feeling by The Black Eyed Peas (Okay, I'm cheating with this one. It came out way after I finished my book, but it now reminds me of a certain scene.) Now, consider yourselves all tagged. Feel free to post your own top seven songs on your own blog. Oh, and have some virtual cake and ice cream. What would a party be without that? I wanted to send a message to Ellie Kings. Ellie, if you are reading this, I just wanted to let you know that your comment feature on your blog isn't working. You might want to check into that. I'll have more on blogging tomorrow. Have a great day!

What great music choices!! And congrats on 100 posts!! What an accomplishment.

I love to listen to music that my MC would be playing. I'm into everything 1960's right now. Plus, Vampire Weekend b/d they just remind me of a cocktail party at a beautiful house during the early 60's. Music can be so inspiring!

Congrats on 100 posts even if they aren't all still here. That is quite an accomplishment :)

May all time favorite song is "While I'm Waiting" by John Waller. I'm not a huge music fan, but that one really works for me.

Thanks for inviting us to the party! That cake and ice cream are oh, so delicious! I've got a bunch of favorite songs and narrowing down to just a few will take some time.

My husband and I joke #7 is our new theme song. We heard it and blared it on the way to a wedding several months ago. It makes me think of him.

I've got plenty already on my player now.

OK, I'm outta touch with the new stuff. The only songs I recognized were the Christian hits in the comments... Oh well.

Happy 88th post! Happy dance.

How about a post on your opinion of sister blogs... You know, like mine. What type of posts do you think I should avoid on my farm blog? Do you think I shouldn't even have them linked? I've been thinking about it alot recently.

Also, if I decide to use a pen name, should I completely separate my writer's blog from any ties to my actual identity?

Hmm... I feel a blog coming on!

Tere Kirkland said...

Congrats anyway! Will you be celebrating when you reach 100 again?

I think my seven songs are all by David Bowie...

LET'S DANCE!

Congrats, Susan! I'll just pretend that this IS your 100th post. Poop on those agents who made you delete some. :-) Hey, maybe if I tick enough off, I'll HAVE to self-publish. I don't like making decisions if I don't have to.

As for your songs... well, am I out of it! Didn't recognize a one - the Christian hits listed in the comments section either. Just give me '60s and '70s music, with a little '80s and '90s tossed in, and I'm good. Perhaps I live too much in the past.

Thanks for the virtual cake and ice cream - I'm on a diet right now (blech!), but a nibble can't hurt, right?

Congrats!
100 posts is quite an achievement. **Applauds**

Congratulations Miss Susan! And I sure do like those shoes.

I love 80s music but I also like some current stuff. Current stuff includes Miley Cyrus's new song (yes, I write YA too, so I'm allowed!) and Jessie James's "Wanted." But mostly, it's 80s stuff!

Nicolette said...

Hmmm...This is a good idea because I love music to death. But how am I to choose only seven?!?!?!?!

Dawn Simon said...

Congrats on 100 posts! Go Susan! :)

Congratulations on your 100th post! I'll definitely take cake as long as it's chocolate and ice cream as long as it's vanilla. Or mint chocolate chip. Man, that sounds good!

Deb said...

I don't think I've heard any of those songs. I guess I should get more :)

Congrats on the 100th post!! Wow!

Nice selections. Angels on the Moon gives me goosebumps every time I listen to it. And how can anyone NOT dance to the Black Eyed Peas? :) Thanks for playing. Happy 100th!

Anna C. Morrison said...

Should I admit that I don't know any of those songs? But the cake is great! :-) Congrats!

K. M. Walton said...

I've got to think on this one. It's hard to narrow it down, but I will and then I'll post on my blog. Thanks for the idea.

I know one thing, my #1 fav right now is Run This Town by Rhianna, Jay-Z and Kanye (even though I'm still mad at him for the stunt he pulled at the VMA's).

Tabitha Bird said...

I'd have to say Pink. Love all her stuff. Can't pick just one song:)

Regina Milton said...

I don't have a song list, but I wanted to say CONGRATS on post 100. Thank you for giving us all the information and inspiration that you do.

Lori said...

The 88th should be celebrated more often! It looks very important.
